Biography

Beth Redwood is a Perth born soprano and graduate from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) where she studied a Bachelor of Music majoring in Classical Voice. In 2025, Beth furthered her studies at Lyric Opera Studio Weimar (Germany) where she portrayed Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro.

Beth’s recent operatic highlights include Adina in L’elisir d’amore, The Countess from Le Nozze di Figaro, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel and Papagena from Die Zauberflöte. Throughout her time at university, Beth also sang in the ensembles of Orpheus in the Underworld and Pirates of Penzance.

Beth’s accolades include Most Outstanding Senior Vocalist in the North of Perth Music Festival (2022) and Overall Best Vocalist in the Fremantle Eisteddfod (2024). She also had the great honour to be a Young Artist with Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra (2024) and with Perth Symphonic Chorus (2025), as well as a Resident Artist with Opera Lovers WA (2024-2025). 

Beth regularly performs with several professional ensembles including Perth Symphonic Chorus and OpusWA, the latter of which she has been an active Board Member of since 2020. With these groups she has performed in a soloist role in many productions including Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem, Bach’s Wachet Auf, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Faure’s Requiem, many Opera Galas and countless performances of Handel’s Messiah. In 2024, Beth debuted with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in the chorus of Mahler’s 8th Symphony. On a number of occasions, she has toured to regional areas of Western Australia with these groups to help bring classical music to more remote areas. 

Despite favouring operatic work, some of Beth’s other performance highlights include singing with the Vienna Pops Orchestra in their popular New Year’s Eve Gala at the Perth Concert Hall in 2024, and performing to two sold out audiences at the Quarry Amphitheater “Carols by Candlelight” for two years running (2023-2024). Recently, Beth was delighted to have made her American debut singing in Mozart’s Requiem in Carnegie Hall, New York, under the baton of Dr Margaret Pride. In the past, Beth has also dipped her toes into the world of Musical Theatre where she has portrayed Sandy in Grease and was involved in the chorus of Chess the Musical when it toured to Perth. 

Aside from performing, Beth has experience in producing concerts. Since 2023, she has organised, run and starred in three successful recital style performances, the most recent of which was to fundraise for her studies at Lyric Opera Studio Weimar. 

Beth is also passionate about conducting and music education. She has been teaching voice and piano for a decade and has directed choral ensembles with the Australian Girls Choir, West Australian Opera and at Newman College. In 2024, Beth furthered her conducting skills through Perth Symphony Orchestra’s Women on the Podium program. This program provides training and opportunities to female conductors in Perth. Following on from this training, she has taken on the role of Assistant Conductor with Perth Symphonic Chorus from 2025.
